Favorite Things Friday

Last year I spent much time searching for my perfect fedora for a spring vacation. The journey brought to me to my one and only J.Crew.The J.Crew Panama Hat is a quintissential spring and summer staple for any wardrobe. This classic style hat has been around for years and adds a boyish charm to a fun dress or a swimsuit at the beach. J.Crew makes an extremely comfortable and chic version at a great price point. I was unsure of how to wear it at first, but have learned that you can rock anything when you really love it!

Winter Florals

This black and white floral Milly skirt is one of my favorites. I got a great deal on it last year and have found that it is extremely versatile. It goes great with a neon pink blouse, a cashmere sweater, or a chambray shirt. But this time I wanted to jazz it up a bit, so I paired it with a relaxed boyfriend tee and my ankle booties. The feminine skirt balances well with the easy tee and booties. And of course the look is completed with a hot pink lip!

Northwoods Getaway {Lifestyle}

Each year over Presidents Day, my hubby and I head up north to my parent's lake home near Canada. It is a simple cabin in the woods of the Boundary Waters. It has a rustic, untouched beauty that makes us long to be there! This past trip up was extra special because it snowed almost the whole time we were there. The woods were covered in a blanket of white - it was absolutely breathtaking. While we were there we ate delicious food, cross country skied often, and relaxed in front of the fire. A getaway was exactly what we needed!

Taking in the beauty of Lake Superior with the beautiful snow falling down.

The best blueberry and lemon scone of my life at the Pie Place in Grand Marais. I got their recipe and it is coming soon to the blog!

My husband and I cross-country skied to the overlook where he proposed to me two years ago. Such a special moment together!

One of the highlights was having the gray jays come and eat right out of our hands.

The view from our cabin. The sun sparkling on the fresh snow was stunning.

Playing games and enjoying chocolate lava cakes late into the night.

Skiing across East Bearskin Lake.

The Skirt

Happy Monday, I hope you had a wonderful weekend! I'm debuting "the skirt" last seen in this post that my Mom and I made together. I love the way the skirt turned out, it was definitely a labor of love but its fun to have such a personally significant piece of clothing in my closet. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Favorite Things Friday

{My favorites of the three above MargaretPrincess Grace}

This week I'm excited to share a recent favorite thing of mine, Julep nail color! Julep is coincidentally a Seattle based company (read more about the company here) but I knew nothing about the product until my little sister enlightened me. Last summer when she came to visit she insisted we visit one of the salons as they are only in Seattle. After a wonderful experience at the nail salon I became more and more intrigued about the product and a few months later became a member!

My favorite product is the Freedom Top Coat, with this top coat my nail polish lasts five days plus without chipping. It was the top coat that really hooked me to the brand. I cannot wait to get my hands on this product

Sunset Over The City

I have come to absolutely love a good beanie (aka winter hat). It is a practical yet fashion forward accessory that can compliment and jazz up any outfit. This one from J.Crew is my favorite, so much so that I have gotten it in multiple colors. I have picked mine up at the end of the season clearance sale, where you can get one for a great price. So now is the time, fashionistas, to go find that good deal on a beanie!! Try to choose a color you wouldn't normally go for. I know this neon yellow has become one of my favorites.

Rain or Shine

Happy Monday everyone, this week is going to be a rainy one for me. Living in Seattle its no surprise that it rains a lot so being prepared is essential, I carry my umbrella with me everyday no matter what the weather and have been tying to track down more outerwear with hoods attached. I love this lightweight trench I picked up a few years ago on sale at Talbots, I knew I wanted a classic piece that would last and this was just the thing. Another key rainy day piece I could't live without are my Hunter boots, this item is also a classic and a great companion in the rain.

Favorite Things Friday

Laura and I are starting a weekly series titled, "Favorite Things Friday" where we will share a pretty find from the week.  This week I am showcasing the Chemex pour over glass coffee pot. My husband got me this for Christmas this past year, after seeing me drool over it for months. I am a bit of a coffee connoisseur so this gift was perfect! Before using the pour over coffee system I was using my french press or an electrical coffee machine. The Chemex pour over is an amazing way to make coffee. It is significantly less bitter, the coffee is extremely smooth, and the flavor is unlike anything I've had before. In addition to the wonderful coffee, the Chemex is also a work of art that has become a beautiful addition to my kitchen and my entertaining.
