North Shore

We are up at the beautiful Lutsen Resort on Lake Superior preparing for my sisters' wedding on Saturday. We are enjoying relaxing by the fire, exploring the icy shore, and being together as a family.  We can't wait for everyone to arrive in the coming days. It feels incredibly special to be celebrating on the north shore, our favorite place in the world. Warm looks like this will be the go to for the festivities this weekend :) Follow along with me this weekend on Instagram! Hope you are having a wonderful day everyone.

Petite Tassel Bracelet {DIY}

Happy Wednesday, Brendan and I are off to MN to celebrate my cousins wedding. We have a full weekend of fun wedding activities- I could not be more excited to be celebrate!

I've been working hard on my tassel making abilities. After many trial and error tassels I finally came up with a system that is easy and in my opinion looks clean and professional. I'm now determined to make a necklace with wooden beads and neon tassels... thoughts? Similar to these beauties

:: Supplies ::
Embroidery Thread {$.40}
Jump Rings (gold hoops) {$2}
Scissors
Stretchy Jewelry Cord {$4}
Beads {$5}

Approximate Cost: Under $15

Optional:
Crimp Beads
 Pliers
Step 1: Cut a 12 inch piece of embroidery thread, fold in half, and center the jump ring in the center. Take the remaining embroidery thread and wrap it around your pointer and middle fingers - wrap 20 times.

Step 2: Take off your fingers and cut thread on one end. Lay flat- now take your thread with the jump ring in the center and tie around the middle of the flattened thread.

Step 3: Cut a 6 inch piece of thread.

Step 4: Tie the newly cut thread around the head of the tassel - double knot for a secure hold.

Step 5: Trim the end of the tassel so all ends are even,

Steps 6: String beads and tassel to stretchy jewelry cord. Fasten my knotting the end.

Optional: To create a cleaner look complete the bracelet with crimp beads. These can be used instead of knotting the cord at the end.

Up North Comfy

My sisters' wedding is this weekend and I couldn't be more excited. The wedding is up north at Lutsen Resort on Lake Superior. It's going to be beautiful, super relaxing, and so special. Family and friends are coming in from across the country, including L - we cannot wait to be together. This look is inspiration for the relaxing, up north week ahead - comfy, warm, yet still chic :) Have a great day everyone!

Spring Break Wish List

When this time of year rolls around, it seems that we all we want is warmer weather and some vitamin D. Taking a trip down south when you live in MN is such a blessing and helps you to be able to finish the rest of the winter (winters seem to last until May around here...unfortunately). P and I are headed to warmer weather in a few short weeks and we cannot wait to get away. It is important to make good decisions about what you purchase, buying things that you not only will wear on your trip but all throughout the summer months ahead - timeless basics, which is something L and I are focusing on. Here are some of the items I have my eye on from J.Crew :) I will keep you posted on which ones I decide to get! Happy Friday everyone, have a wonderful weekend.

Mar Y Sol x J.Crew Caracas Tote // J.Crew Embroidered Tunic (saw this in person, a great cover-up) // Hayes Suede Sandals // J.Crew Sailor Stripe Bandeau Bikini (I want the navy/white stripe)

My Favorite Lip Colors

I hope you all are having a wonderful week! It has been so cold here in MN, so we are looking forward to the slight warm up over the weekend. Finding a lip color that you love and that looks good on your skin tone is a difficult task. So I am excited to share my tried and true favorites. After years of trying different colors, shades, brands, lipsticks vs. glosses...I finally feel like I've found the perfect coral, hot pink, everyday, light pink/natural, and red looks. The great thing about investing in high quality lip colors is they last forever, look beautiful on, and don't dry out your lips (this is especially important with lipsticks). Have a blessed day everyone!

{Coral Lip}

{Hot Pink Lip}
NARS Schiap Lipstick // I usually pair this with Aveda's Lip Saver (favorite chapstick ever)

{Everyday Lip}
Sisley Paris 'Phyto-Lip Twist' (A new favorite; I can't get enough of it and use it all the time. Bonus, it lasts forever)

{Red Lip}

{Light Pink/Natural Lip}

Spicy Brittled Peanuts {Food}

I think I may have found my new favorite snack food! I whipped up these delicious and incredibly easy 'Spicy Brittled Peanuts' over with weekend from my favorite cookbook the Smitten Kitchen. When Monday rolled around we had just enough left for both B and I to bring small bags to work. Needless to say, they are super addicting! I'm already planning my next batch... and hoping I can control myself long enough to be able to share them at work.

{This recipe is taken from the Smitten Kitchen Cookbook}

Fresh Snow

There is nothing prettier or more calming than a fresh snow fall.  Yesterday my sister and I had breakfast at a new French cafe in our neighborhood, and explored a fun area of St. Paul - it was the perfect day off! And it was the last time my sister and I are going to spend alone together before she gets married next week, so needless to say, it is a day I will not quickly forget! Have an awesome Tuesday everyone.
