Happy Monday! B and I fly back to Seattle today after a fun filled weekend in MN. We had a wonderful time celebrating B's sisters wedding and also enjoyed some quality time with our friends and family. 

MN summer weather can be warm, I'm talking hot and humid so in order to beat the heat I packed a variety of lightweight dresses. This linen number was able to keep me cool while outside but the long sleeves were nice for indoor air conditioning. White linen is a summer staple in my book whether its linen pants, tunics or dresses they are perfect for staying comfortable in the summer.

Favorite Things Friday

Happy Friday everyone! Today I am sharing my four favorite design books. I started purchasing home interior coffee table books a couple of years ago for inspiration when decorating our place. I love to use cute tabs (see here) and flag my favorite pages to refer back to when I am feeling stagnant in my home design. They are helpful and look beautiful on a coffee table or end table (win, win)! They are great to have on hand when you are tackling a home DIY project, a design dilemma, or when you just want to spruce things up a bit!

Best Ever Buttermilk Pancakes

I love pancakes, but am kind of picky about what kinds! I love thin Swedish pancakes, but thicker pancakes have never been favorite. That is until my mom discovered the best buttermilk pancake recipe ever, out of A Taste of the Gunflint Trail cookbook. Since then these pancakes have become a go-to favorite and an absolute must to make when we are up north. They are easy to make and are full of buttery delicousness :) I hope you love them as much as we do. 

: : Ingredients : : 

3 eggs

2 1/2 cups buttermilk

2 cups flour

2 tsp. baking power

1 tsp. salt

1 tsp. baking soda

1/2 cup melted butter

: : Recipe : : 

Beat eggs lightly. Stir in buttermilk and set aside.

Sift flour, baking power, salt, and soda. Stir egg mixture into dry ingredients, just enough to mix. Add margarine. 

Pour 1/4 cup of batter on hot, greased griddle (cast iron is key). When edges look dry and bubbles are popping on the top of each pancake, flip to other side. 

Serve warm with maple syrup, fresh blueberries, chocolate chips, or whatever toppings you like (I do all three).

Summer Florals

I hope you had a wonderful weekend! My weekend was spent running errands and of course getting our place in order- we still have a long way to go but we finally can walk though it without tripping over things. 

I'm sharing another easy summer dress today, its literally all I wear these days because of the weather. I cannot complain- we are having a gorgeous summer but on those really hot days this is all I want to be wearing. What's you summer go to staple?

Favorite Things Friday

TGIF! 

This weekend the plan is to crack down and get our apartment in tip top shape. We leave for MN next week and I just hate the thought of leaving a mess. Growing up my mom always made sure our house was clean before departing on vacation- it was never fun coming home to a dirty house! I have adopted that practice and always like to leave our place sparking {although that is always my plan, it doesn't always go off without a hitch}.

In the midst of moving into a new place and having the ability to re-organizing and re-arranging I have been paying significantly more attention to affordable home decor. Today I'm sharing some of my FAVORITE home sites that won't break the bank. 

West Elm- This is the priciest of my top five picks but with their revolving door of sales and promotions as long as you shop this store right you can get anything you need with at least a 15% discount. I particularity like West Elm for their home decor items and cute kitchen utensil/bowls, etc... some of my favorites include these bowls for jewelry storage {only $4}, this fancy votive holder, and of course my very favorite trays of all time! Zara Home- I love that Zara does a home line, its filled with stylish decorating pieces and light airy linens. Here are a few of my top picks bedding set- priced just right, cute bedside table, perfectly simple frames

H&M Home- Who knew this existed? Well, the site just launched around a month ago and they have some really fun stuff! Check out these storage baskets, mini plates- I would put a candle on this or even use them for coasters. Love the idea of decorating with these- the possibilities are endless. Anyway, I'm in love with their line and cannot wait until the Autumn and Winter collections launch. 

Chapters Indigo- I wanted to throw this site into my mix to talk primarily about their gallery wall frames. Chapters Indigo is a Canadian based company {don't worry they ship to the US} I saw their selection of frames online and was impressed but I was sold after I saw the product in person. The frames are very high quality and reasonably priced. Frame Shop act fast all frames are 25% off 

Target- My beloved Target, this is always a go to when shopping for on trend home pieces. I have my eye on this cute little pouf, and this mirror would look adorable in our small entry way

How to Display Wedding Keepsakes Part 2 {DIY}

Earlier this summer I wrote my first post on displaying and cherishing keepsakes from your wedding day, focusing on a homemade handkerchief that my mom made for me that I wanted to frame (see post here). For my second post in this series I focused on our beautiful photographs taken by the talented Paper Antler. I wanted to make a smaller, coffee table sized photo book for my parents as a thank-you gift and for a keepsake for them to have. 

I got a small, classy album at Paper Source (it even has tissue in-between each page) and also purchased ivory photo corners. I printed off photos in both 4x6 and 5x7, putting them in order of the events of the day. I focused on pictures and moments that had to deal with my parents and siblings (and obviously my groom and I), to make it most meaningful for my parents. It was a complete success and my mom absolutely loved it! The price was reasonable and the time it took minimal. It would be a great project to do while watching a movie on a Saturday night!
